The Online Future of Insurance Sales and Marketing

2/18/2009
We have seen how the transforming power of the Web is causing major disruptions in the news media industry. Most major metropolitan newspapers, national magazines and journals as well as local t.v. and radio stations are seeing their market share dwindle as more eyes and ears are turning to the Web as their primary source of news, entertainment and information. Now, the same transforming power of the Web is working its way through the conservative and slow-to-adapt insurance marketplace.

Web 2.0 and Company Sponsored Agent Mash-ups - Now We're Talkin'!

10/31/2008
Agent Productivity. Reduce Costs. Competitive Advantage. These three issues seem to be the “Holy Grail” in the executive suite in the insurance marketing business today. Web 2.0. E-business. etc. etc. At the same time, there are a thousand buzz-words and techie concepts floating around the industry. Executives often “know just enough to be dangerous.” To make matters worse, many internal IT departments really don’t understand most of it and yet are expected to be the experts. To save face, they often “pose for the role” but when new sites actually role out there are significant issues. Problem is… the executive sponsor then says, “Well I guess that didn’t work … won’t try that again.” And the proverbial head goes into the sand and significant opportunities are missed.

Insurance Agent On-boarding

10/8/2008
On-boarding is a Human Resources (H.R.) term that refers to both transactional on-boarding (contracting/licensing) and acculturation (training). While the value of on-boarding efforts is significant to human resource professionals in regard to employees, independent insurance agents have been relatively underserved in this regard. Relative to agent driven distribution systems, on-boarding begins once an agent has been recruited and refers to the process of contracting and training a new agent.
